Bi-District Loss 47-49

Texas 6A High School Basketball Region IV 25/26 Bi-District playoff Monday February 17th 2025. Visiting District 25 Vandegrift edged Westlake 47-49 when Westlake's last second layup rolled off the rim. Westlake, looking to avenge its earlier season road loss to Vandegrift, battled against a tall front line of #4 Hayden Brannan (6'7" Jr. F), and #21 Trent Workman (6'9" Sr. C). Westlake led 15-9 after the first quarter and then 25-20 at the half having played tough inside and hitting threes. Westlake then played strong coming out at the half but Vandegrift caught them 33-33 with 2:29 remaining in the third quarter. The Chaps then fell behind 37-39 at the end of the third quarter. They continued battling from there on with Westlake tying the game at 43-43 with 4:24 remaining. Westlake then fell behind for good with 2:19 remaining after #2 Chance Van Stavern (5'11" Sr. PG) hit a three 43-46. Vandegrift hit big shots at key points in the game. Westlake, still with a fighting chance, double-teamed and fouled to eventually trail only by 47-49. Setting up the final series, after timeouts, with 5.68 remaining. See action and crowd shots below.
