Bi-District Loss Westlake 46 Vandegriff 56

Texas 6A Girls High School Basketball-Westlake's #15 Tamia King controls the tip over Vandegriff's #23 Emma Winans (6'0" SR SF PF) in the Bi-District Region IV Championship against hosting Vandegriff Tuesday evening February 11th 2025. Westlake held the lead 16-12 and 27-23 after the first and second quarter despite many turnovers. Vandegriff controlled the defensive boards, were quick to the loose ball, shot freely but poorly in the first half. Vandegriff got 15 points from #2 Sophomore 5'8" (PG SG) Maddie Broxterman while Westlake got 15 from #15 Tamia King. Vandegriff charged out for the second half and with more intense defense, and double-teaming of Tamia King, outscored Westlake 21-8 in the third quarter and 12-11 in the fourth quarter winning 56-46. Tamia King was held to one point in the second half while Maddie Broxterman added 14 points for a total of 29 points. Vandegriff's #20 Sophomore 5'9" (PG SG) Saania Khawaja added 13 points. For Westlake Wynn Thorne had 11 and Lovie Bien had 9. Westlake had a good season finishing 28-7 and perfect in District 26. The future is bright as Westlake's top scorer's Tamia King (Jr.) , Molly Frazer (So.) and Wynn Thorne (So.) are likely to return for 25-26. See game images below.
