Early in the Pandemic-Rich Urbanites Fled Big Cities for Williamson & Travis Counties Bringing $2B

Around Austin-The Austin Business Journal reports that in 2019 and 2020, the first year of the pandemic, "floods of wealth" moved out of major Northeast and West Coast urban centers to "fast-growing areas in the South and Southwest" including at #13 Williamson County and #14 Travis County, Texas. Using IRS tax filing aggregate data the ABJ calculated that a net 9,905 households moved into Williamson county bringing $970,000,000 in adjust gross income. Travis County saw 1,862 net households and $950,000,000. See "Austin Business Journal" September 9th-15th 2022 issue pages 16-17 for more detail.
