Glimpse.com is a firm that tracks online trends. See Glimpse.com for more detail about their services. This month Glimpse shared the story of Liquid Death a product that is essentially purified water in a can. The brand is getting lots of uptake online as shown above.

Bottled or canned water is the ultimate product to commercialize as it is hugely profitable at nearly a 2,000 fold higher cost than tap water. Because of such profitabilty and popularity amongst consumers the store shelf is crowded with small local companies to behemoth companies like Coca Cola and Pepsi. Convenience and seemingly guaranteed quality are part of the appeal to buyers versus the largest competitor being tap water itself.

So how has Liquid Death found successful place in a crowded marketplace?

"The fact that it [Liquid Death] comes in a can means it's especially popular as a non-alcoholic drink that can be consumed in an alcohol-dominant setting. Non-alcoholic drinks are rising in popularity, but there's often a social stigma to not drinking alcohol in social situations, and Liquid Death sells away around this." Smartly, Liquid Death has enlisted beer distributors to sell into bars. The brand appeals also to the informed environmentalist because 75% of all aluminum is recycled while nearly all plastic ends up in your local landfill.
