Lady Chap Basketball Varsity Jumps on San Marcos 18-4 but Miss Last Second Shot Losing 57-58

Updated: Dec 12, 2021

Girls High School Basketball-San Marcos reacts to 58-57 victory over Westlake after spotting Westlake 4-18 to start the game at the Westlake Gym Friday evening. San Marcos pushed the ball, used quickness and hot-shooting to down the Lady Chaps. Westlake led 57-56 with 34.98 remaining after Peyton Freiermuth, part of a double-team in a two-two-one press, stole the ball and made an uncontested layup but San Marcos scrambled in the half-court eventually finding an opening and sinking a short shot to go up 58-57 with 5.72 seconds remaining. The Lady Chaps moved the ball full court but Gianna Angiolet's short-range shot was heavily contested resulting in a miss.
