In 2015 Wojciech Radomski founded StethoMe. Working with acoustic researchers, from the Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznan, they created a wireless stethoscope that via BlueTooth sends audio to your SmartPhone. Parents follow StethoMe’s onscreen instructions on start-up and during the course of the at-home assessment. The device once started sequentially tells then parents when, how and where to place the device for audio recording of their child’s breathing sounds. StethoMe “listens” using an array of built-in microphones and then interprets wheezes and crackles as a healthcare provider would. In this case a predetermined algorithm evaluates the audio file and suggests the parents seek medical consultation if potential warning signs are detected.
The company data suggests that StethoMe is 39% more accurate than the average physician. With 23 employees the team is working towards a European CE and FDA approval. Ultimately, Radomski, hopes that each home eventually will be equipped with a StethoMe.
